Rossini Theatre

Pesaro is a quiet resort town with enough artistic significance to make up an excuse to visit there other than to lie on the beach. Fast becoming one of Italy�s hottest new seaside resort towns, often referred to as "the land of harmonies", probably because it was the home of Gioacchino Rossini (1792), one of Italy�s most famous composers. It has only been in the last ten years or so that his house "Casa Rossini" has been open to the public along with Conservatorio Rossini where you can find original manuscripts and his piano. To honor Pesaro�s favorite son, his operas are performed during the month of August for the annual music festival in the Teatro Rossini. One artistic treasure that can be found in Pesaro is Giovanni Bellini�s Coronation of the Virgin (c.1470) located in the Musei Civici.

Most of the hotels in Pesaro can be found along the waterfront, for obvious reasons. They are renowned for their style and air of elegance. During the vacation months of August and the beginning of September, Italians flock from their neighboring inland homes to spend time in this beautiful medieval town. If you plan to pass through during this time make sure you have a reservation. (Note: there is a regular bus schedule from Pesaro to Urbino. So travelers can stay in Urbino and take the 30-minute bus ride to Pesaro for the Day).
